Summer Vacation

I am not a blogger. Never even had the desire to blog. Read very few blogs until recently.  During graduate school classes taken while on summer vacation, if you can call that a vacation, I have been exposed to the world of blogging. I was given the assignment to seek out blogs on education and reply to those blogs. I was inspired by the blogs I read. I was inspired by the teachers I met in those blogs. It's as if I have discovered a new set of tools. I was also given the assignment to explore a strategy or method of teaching I would like to implement in my classroom. I have decided that my goal this year is to become more tech savvy and utilize technology in ways I haven't explored before to assist my students in becoming global citizens and 21st century learners. My greatest accomplishments in technology up until this point have been my class webpage and assissting my students in making Powerpoint presentations. I am now exploring the use of blogs, discussion forums, wikis, videoconferencing, and webinars. I am also examining ways to incorporate the use of tools like Flickr, Wordle, and i-chat, into student projects. I am open to suggestions from teachers who have gone before me into this world of technology. I am hoping this blog will help me get connected with a community of teachers for collaboration and support. I will post updates as I travel along this journey.
